The Bristol Good Food Awards shortlist 2016

After weeks of voting for your favourite restaurants, cafés, delis, coffee shops and takeaways, the votes are in and counted and we can announce the shortlist for each of the 30 categories.

And with more votes cast on the voting cards and online than ever before, you can be sure that those who have made it to the shortlist are your very top choices of places to eat and drink in the city.

We put out 60,000 voting cards across Bristol, a 50 per cent increase on last year and counted 28,000 individual votes from more than 200 participating food establishments. We also counted an impressive 14,000 individual votes online.

As well as the popular votes, our judging panel, led by Angela Mount and Bristol food critic Mark Taylor, also cast an eye over the shortlist, adding the critics’ choice to the list as well.

Now the hard work begins – each establishment on the shortlist will be visited by one or more of the judging panel, who will subject it to a blind tasting. Using strict judging criteria, each will then be marked, notes compared and winners and runners-up chosen – all ready for the grand gala Bristol Good Food Awards Ceremony, to be held at Bristol’s impressive Ashton Gate on November 13.
