We also recognise the best local producers who sell their produce in Bristol with awards
in the following categories that include Best Local Beer, Best Local Confectionary, Best Local Cheese and Best Local Preserve.

  JUDGING

Every nominee has made the shortlist in their own category by receiving votes from the people of Bristol. In 2012, our inaugural year, we received more than 12,000 nominations, and double that in 2013. It was really exciting to see the level of support that Bristol’s foodie businesses received, and the restaurants, cafes, delis and producers with the most votes then went through to the judging stage of the awards.

Led by head judge Angela Mount, our panel of judges included Xanthe Clay (food and wine columnist, The Telegraph), Martin Blunos (international chef and broadcaster), Richard Bertinet (BBC Food Champion, food writer and broadcaster) and Susy Atkins (wine writer and broadcaster).   They took part in a blind judging of the wares of local producers as well as visiting each shortlisted restaurant as mystery diners with the winners announced at a Gala Awards evenings held at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery in 2012 and the Bristol Marriott City Centre Hotel in 2013.
